It’s the expertise of our people that makes a difference. When we talk about a materials and device expertise, we’re talking about the people who make up our team of researchers and engineers. We’ve been very deliberate about building that team. We have an R & D group that interacts on a high level with our customers and develops technologies they can utilize easily, and an engineering group that uses its materials and device expertise to make sure the technology can be made into a product that performs like it should. This philosophy continues right into our production team, which specializes in epiwafer manufacturing and quality control. We’re responsive problem solvers, always leveraging the knowledge of device people who understand our customers and speak their language. It’s a great mix, and it sets EpiWorks apart.

Champaign-Urbana

Champaign-Urbana

A micro-urban community on the rise.

Blue Waters: Sustained Petascale Computing

Home to the University of Illinois—one of Lincolns’ great, public Land Grant universities—Champaign-Urbana is a thriving  “micro-urban” community. A relatively new concept, micro-urban refers to population centers of 250,000 or less possessing an uncommon set of highly desirable attributes traditionally associated only with major metropolitan centers.

Key attributes include

  • a vibrant arts, culture and nightlife scene;
  • an educated and diverse domestic and international population;
  • a thriving technology and entrepreneurial community, and
  • palpable public discourse on major social and global issues.

These qualities combined with ease of transportation, affordable housing, and a strong sense of community make micro-urban living a viable alternative to complex, densely populated urban centers.

Champaign-Urbana is home to Nobel Prize winners, Olympians, innovative entrepreneurs, powerful supercomputers, international film and music festivals, pioneers of the Internet, a major marathon, acclaimed public and private schools, the premier university-based performing arts complex, world-renowned scientists and research centers, and so much more.

Smart, innovative, globally connected and culturally rich, Champaign-Urbana is a micro-urban center on the rise.
